I am an Ohio licensed psychologist (P.07662) with clinical expertise honed through clinical, supervisory, teaching, and administrative experience in community-based, private practice, and juvenile justice settings. I have nearly ten years of education in psychology, and special training in graduate and post-graduate settings related to clinical work with children and adolescents. Since 2011, I have worked with children, adolescents, families, and adults to address a wide range of concerns through counseling and assessment.
Areas of focus in counseling (sometimes also called therapy) include difficulties in childhood and adolescence (i.e., anxiety, depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, AD/HD, mood disorders, trauma, behavioral concerns), and treatment of anxiety disorders.
My experience with assessment (sometimes called psychological testing or psychological evaluation) is broad and includes evaluations for missionaries, transitional assessments for international students, assessment of childhood disorders (i.e., intellectual disorder, AD/HD, learning disorders) and court-ordered psychological assessments.
The claim that psychology is an “art and a science” rings true to me in that I believe the role of a psychologist is to root services in the most contemporary research while remaining responsive and respectful to the unique aspects of those seeking care. In my work as a psychologist, I am honored to help others develop deeper understandings of themselves as they make positive changes.
I currently serve as the President of Akron Area Professional Psychologists, and I am also involved in the Ohio Psychological Association. I have prior experience as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team at Children’s Network of Stark County (2017-2019). I am married with three children, and when away from the office, I enjoy spending time with family, tending to the garden (and chickens!), picking the guitar, and rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

I am a marriage and family therapist (M. 2100163) specialized to provide therapy to individuals, couples, and families with an emphasis on understanding how healing always involves addressing systemic concerns. Areas of specialized training include Gottman Method of Relationship Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, ACT Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I work across the age range (school-age children through adulthood). In addition to my work as a therapist, I am also a registered nurse (BSN) and I have nearly ten years of experience in the business sector in sales.
I believe that each individual has the right to feel and see their truth as theirs. The goal in therapy is to find that which is true for their system and work to help them obtain that truth. The goals are not to bend the clients to a “norm”, but help them find what is a norm for them and their system.
Therapy will involve getting to know what things have brought each member to therapy and what things they would like to see change. We will also explore what things have worked in the past to relieve the current stressors. Analyzing what life would look like if the stressors are gone and how we may achieve that goal.
Commons concerns I address within the course of therapy include recovery from infidelity in relationships, anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, and other couple/relationship problems.
I am a member of AAMFT and also a member of Delta Kappa International Marriage and Family Therapy Honor Society - Iota Chapter. I am married with three children (two adults and one teenager), and while away from the office I enjoy running with my wife, listening to and collecting music, and watching films. Also, while I do not have it on in this picture, I wear a rotating fitted baseball hat every single day!
Supervisors: Ashley Klingelsmith, M.A.ed, LPCC-S, I-MFT; Isaac Weaver, Psy.D.

It has been said, “When something bad happens you have three choices. You can let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.” I am a genuine therapist offering a welcoming, relaxed environment of hope for those that struggle with anxiety, depression, and other difficulties related to school, work, or relationships. I have a passion for working with survivors of trauma and loss focusing on healing the mind and the body. I believe that everyone should have a safe place and a safe, relatable person with whom to share their story. I am a firm believer that healing is not one sided nor should be done alone.
I am a licensed professional clinical counselor, with supervision designation (E.0500365-SUPV). I have worked as a mental health trauma-informed therapist with children, adolescents, and adults for over 17 years, also working with anxiety, depression, and other life struggles. I will help you focus on your strengths and be empowered by a survivor mentality. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques to meet your needs.
I focus on healing the mind with Cognitive Behavior Therapy and healing the body with Somatic Psychotherapy. I also rely on mindfulness strategies and a solution-focused approach to my work in order to help you find solutions and to stay grounded in the present, even in the midst of challenging emotions.
